me

Hello and greetings. My name is Frederic Ducros. I am a father, a professional and student of life. I have the luck of sharing this life with a wonderful woman, Ting, and our amazing daughter and little star, Tara, who lives by her namesake goddess of compassion. If you want to see more this, join the TaraFamily.

When I do not work or study my many passions, I practice a number of activities to recharge my batteries: free running, scuba-diving, skydiving, snowboarding, windsurfing. I practice on my own, in the US, but I have come back to Europe often in the past to share these experiences with the best of friends, X-Soul Tribe.

I am currently working with my friends from nexB, the makers of the famed Easy-Eclipse and soon-to-be-famous (as in “not-famous-yet”) TeamALM. Team ALM is a light and effective Application Lifecycle Management tool. It helps software developers and their clients define and manage better the software requirements. The point is to deliver clients what they want, or better, what they need - that would be new.

I have recently joined Oracle as a Director of IT Strategy in their Insight Group. If you want to know how great this job is, you will have to talk to me and bribe me, but I should say this is the best enterprise software vendor in the world. And I am not biased. Need I say more?

Thirteen years ago, I started my career as a technical project manager for Hewlett-Packard. Since 1997, I have worked on enterprise transformation projects for three consulting firms: KPMG, its offspring BearingPoint and more recently Deloitte Consulting. There I really focused enabling the levers of change: project governance, training, organization design, and production support. I also worked for a brief period with Trianz. There are some great people there, but we had no common ground, so we moved on.

I blog on a very irregular basis at BeZeChange.net (that’s here, in case you are really lost) about how people can and do change on a personal level, in their organizations, and ultimately, how we positively change the world, consciously or not. If you are into self-awareness, self-improvement, mindfulness, you may be interested.

My experience as a consultant resonates with Michael Hammer’s (Re-engineering the Corporation) saying: “The Soft Stuff is The Hard Stuff”. I blog frequently at ITToolbox about how the soft stuff is the hard stuff in large projects. If your focus is enterprise transformation, long-term change adoption (leadership, governance, training, production support, etc.), you may want to give a look.

My main interests at the individual level are self-improvement, collaboration, use of technology, interface design, skydiving, scuba diving, etc.
